When I talked to the city arborist about all the trees planted from Graham to Othello, Rainier to MLK (2007), he said that they had specifically targeted the neighborhood, I think as part of the ReLeaf campaign. I noticed in 2008 that a few neighbors had gone out of their way to chop down some of the new trees…so I’m guess that they want to plant more, but are giving folks an opportunity to say whether or not they want one. And possibly give them a chance to pick the type.

Holycow. I’m so glad I mentioned a noisy peacock that kept me awake last night when you and your mom were in the shop or I’d never have found the little beast’s picture here. So, across the street. It sounded, like you wrote, right outside my window. I’ve heard it tonight but the shrieks are much farther away. I think this is the same one mentioned in the CentralDistrict News a week or so ago.

That’s the same spot I saw it! Though it’s been making it’s way around the neighborhood. Some mornings it sounds really far away and other day’s he’s right in my bedroom.

Outstanding!! I had no idea, “Old dog” seemed to stick. Yeah, the dogs across the street have never gotten used to us walking by. Figured they’d calm down after they knew us, but no such luck.

Old Dog is a good name. I almost don’t want to sully the nickname with the truth.

However, I can’t stand the suspense: his name is King.

He is so much nicer than the dogs across the street from him!
